For more than 100 years, IMI’s Process Automation site in Sweden (operating under the legal name CCI Valve Technology AB) has been shaping the future of steam control.
Founded in the 1920s as Källe Regulatorer in Säffle, western Sweden, the company pioneered early steam regulation technologies that paved the way for today’s advanced steam conditioning systems.
From its earliest days, the business has supported industries at home and abroad — from pulp and paper and district heating to refineries, desalination plants, combined cycle power, and renewable energy projects. This legacy has helped power Sweden’s economy and establish its global reputation for engineering excellence.
Building on a strong legacy
Over the decades, the company has evolved through various changes in ownership, including Eur-Control and BTG Specialty Valves AB, and has developed many core products that remain trusted today - including the well-known VLB steam conditioning valve.
In 2009, the company entered a new chapter by becoming part of IMI plc, a UK-based FTSE 100 engineering group.
Supporting customers worldwide
Today, Säffle remains the home of products developed from BTG technology, backed by IMI’s global engineering expertise. This means customers benefit from:
Proven solutions for new construction projects
Genuine OEM spare parts and upgrades to extend asset life
Continuous improvements to the design and performance of our OEM parts
Access to IMI’s global field service network, ensuring expert support wherever it’s needed

Global reach, local expertise
Steam conditioning is a highly technical field where differentiation can be difficult. IMI stands apart through its scale, installed base, and global service capability. Our solutions operate in critical facilities across combined cycle power plants, combined heat and power, refineries, desalination, and thermal solar (CSP).
What makes this footprint powerful is the combination of global reach and local expertise. Skilled field service technicians and application engineers work alongside customers to optimise performance and ensure long-term reliability.
A Swedish base with global impact
Despite its global presence, IMI’s heart in this sector remains in Säffle. The local team of design, application, and sales engineers collaborates closely with IMI colleagues worldwide to deliver tailored, high-quality solutions.
This commitment to innovation began with Sweden’s pulp and paper industry, where precise steam conditioning valves were essential. Today, it extends to industries around the world. Whether supporting new build projects or modernising existing assets, the Säffle team continues to deliver efficiency, reliability, and sustainable innovation — keeping Sweden’s engineering legacy alive on the global stage.
