IMI has announced a major investment in its India‑based operations with the construction of a new manufacturing and engineering facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The new facility at the city’s Hiranandani Industrial Park will predominantly support the production of IMI’s IMI CCI range of turbine bypass valves, control valves, desuperheaters and hydraulic supply units, amongst other products.

IMI’s consolidated manufacturing and engineering facility in Chennai brings production, assembly and regional operations into a single location for improved efficiency.
This new site began operations in April 2026 and has begun taking over activities from IMI’s facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The new Chennai site will mirror the manufacturing, assembly and testing capabilities of the Sri City plant and will continue to operate under IMI’s global quality management systems. The new site will also bring together regional office and warehouse operations into a single, unified location in Chennai, enabling a more streamlined and efficient service for customers.
Chungduk Suh, President of Power & Nuclear for Process Automation at IMI, said: “India is both an important market and manufacturing base for many of our industry-leading valve technologies.
“This significant investment puts us in a prime position to attract and retain the region’s top talent, deliver outstanding technologies to our clients and improve our environmental performance.”
The new site in India will be the latest of several recent IMI site developments around the world, including in the UK, Italy, the USA and Brazil.
