IMI has secured a multi-million dollar contract to supply critical valve technologies for the 1.5 GW Franklin Farms Power Station in Louisiana, a next-generation combined-cycle power plant being developed to support rapidly growing AI data centre infrastructure across the United States.
Located at the Franklin Farms Megasite in northeast Louisiana, the Franklin Farms Power Station is part of the new wave of purpose-built energy infrastructure designed specifically to meet the enormous energy demands of data centre operations. The project is being delivered by EPC contractor Kiewit Corp. and comprises two combined cycle units engineered for high efficiency and operational flexibility.
IMI is supplying a turbine bypass system, attemperators and a control valve package, with a total order value of over US$3 million. These systems play a vital role in ensuring plant responsiveness, safety and efficiency, particularly in applications where consistent power delivery and rapid operational control are essential.

The IMI CCI VLB desuperheater forms part of IMI's advanced steam conditioning and power generation solutions.
“This contract win is a great opportunity for us at IMI to tackle industry-wide challenges, enabling reliable, efficient power generation and supporting our customers as they expand their capacity to meet the growing energy demands driven by AI and digital infrastructure,” said Priyavrath Kathavi, VP Sales, Process Automation at IMI.
The Franklin Farms project highlights the increasing need for flexible and reliable power generation capable of supporting high, continuous electrical loads. Natural gas combined cycle technology offers the fast response and stability required for such applications, while delivering significantly lower emissions compared to the older coal-fired generation.
IMI’s involvement builds on its extensive experience supporting combined-cycle power projects across North America, working closely with EPC contractors and plant developers to standardise designs, streamline documentation, and accelerate delivery timelines.
“Our ability to align closely with project partners and provide proven valve solutions is critical for projects of this nature,” added Mr Kathavi. “Projects like Franklin Farms, which operate in the AI and data centre sphere, require not just a deep understanding of the industry, but also precision, flexibility and technical confidence from day one.”
IMI is currently supporting detailed engineering activities for the project, with deliveries scheduled in line with the plant’s construction programme.
