NEON Sonic for Steam Trap Monitoring (Non-Ex)

NEON Sonic Non-Ex provides continuous acoustic and temperature monitoring for steam traps, helping detect failures early and improve energy and maintenance performance.

  • Tick

Replace manual inspection with scheduled measurement to aid proactive maintenance schedule.

  • Tick

Edge diagnostics, sensor detects faults enabling simple integrate of diagnostics into existing systems.

  • Tick

Delivers long-life, low‑maintenance operation with reliable LoRaWAN connectivity for site-wide coverage.

Industrial operations often rely on steam flow systems that power production, heating, and energy transfer across critical processes.

Yet, these systems often operate with limited visibility. Undetected inefficiencies, leaks, and failures in components such as steam traps can lead to significant energy losses, safety risks, and costly unplanned downtime. The digital transformation of industrial assets is changing that. The NEON Sonic extends this transformation to critical flow components in steam systems. It delivers near real-time monitoring and diagnostics for assets that previously remained unmonitored, helping facilities reduce emissions, prevent failures, and ensure compliance while keeping operations running safely and efficiently.

NEON Sonic offers a cutting-edge LoRaWAN-enabled solution that combines acoustic and temperature sensing in a single probe, providing continuous, reliable monitoring of steam traps.

The sensor measures Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Temperature, and Ambient Temperature, providing continuous, reliable monitoring of steam traps and critical assets. NEON Sonic sends alerts to maintenance engineers, as soon as their assets start to fail. With fail alerts, seamless integration into existing DCS/SCADA systems, and backed by proven IoT technology, NEON Sonic ensures efficient maintenance and reduced energy losses. Its robust design delivers up to 14 years of battery life, making it a low-maintenance choice for long-term industrial deployment. All in the reliable NEON form factor that comes as a battery-powered I-IoT device, communicating wirelessly via LoRaWAN.

The NEON Sonic non-Ex certified version, tailored for industrial environments where such certification is not required. Built with the same standards as the ATEX / IECEx certified version, this sensor delivers the same high-precision acoustic and temperature sensing. This version is ideal for facilities outside of explosive zones, such as manufacturing, pulp and paper, power, water management, and automation, offering all the benefits of the known NEON capabilities and features without the need for intrinsic safety compliance.

NEON Product Line – LoRa devices designed for heavy industry

The NEON product range supports all industrial customers moving towards LoRaWAN as the Industrial IoT network of the future. The LoRaWAN network gives industrial operations a secure solution, which has no vendor lock-in, scales up to tens of thousands of sensors, covers complete sites with only a small amount of gateways, and best of all – the low-power approach means that the lifetime of NEON products can be extended dramatically. This international networking technology is quickly becoming the industry standard. NEON stands for a standardised approach to collecting data points from within the operation and a general approach to creating integrated solutions with existing IT ecosystems.
