IMI secures Sizewell C contract having supplied to all European Pressurised Reactor sites

Sizewell C 1 and 2 will be the seventh and eighth EPR to be equipped with IMI equipment, following Taishan 1 and 2 in China, Olkiluoto 3 in Finland and Flamanville 3 in France, with Hinkley Point C 1 and 2 currently under construction in the UK.
The EPR model is designed to offer a replicable design for efficient nuclear plants that use considerably less uranium than earlier reactor models. Flamanville 3, the most recent EPR to come online, is reducing radioactive waste by between 15% and 30% thanks to the complete fission of uranium, compared with previous generations of reactors.

A blue fishing boat with orange buoys rests on a pebble beach in the foreground. Behind it stands the Sizewell C nuclear power station, featuring large industrial buildings and a prominent white dome. The sky is partly cloudy with patches of blue, creating a contrast between the coastal setting and the advanced energy infrastructure.
Luc Todo, President of EMEA Strategic Projects Nuclear at IMI, said: “Nuclear reactors are amongst the harshest environments on earth, requiring precise, robust and reliable equipment, manufactured to the very highest standards. The consistent use of IMI equipment across the global complement of EPRs contributes to the replicability of the model, which is an important risk mitigation factor leading to a very low risk of non-conformities, therefore avoiding cost overruns.
“We are proud to be continuing our involvement in the EPR project, which has a vital role to play in reducing carbon emissions for decades to come and bringing down the costs of new nuclear plants in the future.”
“The role we are playing in the nuclear industry speaks to the reliability and reputation of our products.”
