IMI’s New Houston Site: An investment in people, customers, and growth

We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially begun the transition to a brand-new facility in Houston, Texas.
Just a short move from our current location on Kennedy Drive, the new site at 4444 Kennedy Commerce marks a pivotal step forward for our team, customers, and long-term growth in the Americas region.
The lease on our previous facility expired in December 2024, prompting the need for a strategic decision: renew for another 10 years or invest in a location that better suits our future ambitions. After careful evaluation, we chose to relocate and upgrade.
The result? A multi-million dollar investment that transforms a former warehouse into a state-of-the-art manufacturing site that supports our people, processes, and production.
Designed with our people in mind
One of the most important goals of this move is to create a better, safer, and more comfortable working environment for our team. With average temperatures in Houston reaching 33°C, the new facility features a fully air-conditioned shopfloor area, large commercial fans to enhance airflow, and improved operational flow for efficiency.
Continuity in delivering value to our customers
While the relocation brings internal upgrades, our commitment to customers remains unchanged. The new setup is designed to enhance efficiency and timely delivery through the introduction of a more compact lay-down yard that encourages faster turnaround of customer equipment.
The new Houston site will continue to operate across four key value streams. It will provide our customers with valve repair services, new parts, and upgrades for the petrochemical and steel industries. Our new manufacturing facility will also offer repairs and parts for IMI control valve technologies, along with silencers and desuperheaters for the power and oil and gas sectors. And our engineering experts will continue to provide our customers in North and South America with outstanding field service support for valves.

The image displays two views of IMI’s new Houston site. On the left, a tall sign shows the IMI logo, the slogan "Breakthrough engineering for a better world," and the address "1951 Richey Commerce Dr." On the right, the main industrial building is visible with the IMI logo prominently displayed on the facade.
Key milestones in the move
We’ve seen some key developments in the move, and we’re nearing the completion of several important projects. Here’s a quick timeline of milestones that have already taken place and what’s coming next:
Permit issued: April 29
Overhead crane installation: Ongoing from April 29
Machine relocation: Completed from June 1 to June 30
Concrete completion interior: From June 2 to July 7
Interior electrical completion: Ongoing, completion expected by July 11
Facility start-up: July 15
These essential steps have ensured the site is well-prepared for its new functions, helping us maintain uninterrupted service for our valued customers.
Strategic investment in future growth
The new site represents a significant investment in our future. With the investment committed to transforming the building from a warehouse into a manufacturing powerhouse, we’ve created a state-of-the-art facility to support the growing needs of our customers.
Some of the major upgrades include the addition of overhead cranes in all the facility’s buildings for greatly improved handling and an exterior canopy to protect vital heat treatment equipment, the blast booth, and the wash pit. Within the building, we have excavated pits dedicated to valve testing, sub-arc machine operations, and valve machining.
In phases II and III of the project (scheduled for H2 2025), we will further expand the office space and parking area to support our growing team and their operations.
Michael Meseke, General Manager of IMI’s Houston site, shared his thoughts on the move:
“The new Houston site has a smaller footprint than our previous facility. However, the new building will improve the operational flow of the products we support, along with a climate-controlled shop floor to benefit our employees. We believe strongly that this new building and new chapter in the Houston business will enable us to continue providing outstanding service and support to our customers while improving the work environment for our employees.”
Looking ahead
As we prepare for the grand start-up, the new IMI site in Houston aims to deliver operational excellence and an improved working environment for our employees. We look forward to the opportunities this move will bring regarding enhanced customer satisfaction and our employees’ ability to thrive in a state-of-the-art working environment.
